I am a Fertility Awareness Instructor (certified with Billings Ovulation Method / BOM and in practicum with Natural Family Planning Teachers Association / NFPTA) and Postpartum Doula.
I chose to teach the Billings Ovulation Method (BOM) because of its researched high efficacy postpartum. As I took on more BOM clients, I decided to certify in the sympto-thermal method with NFPTA, so that I could easily transition clients to a different method, depending on what works for their lifestyle. In addition to postpartum clients, I particularly enjoy working with clients with general menstrual issues or difficulty conceiving, as I have seen how fertility awareness can shed so much light on these situations. I frequently teach engaged couples from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Although religious myself, I have no issues teaching individuals with different belief systems, as everyone deserves to have knowledge of how their body works.
I personally have used sympto-thermal, Marquette, and Billings through different stages of avoiding pregnancy, miscarriage, trying to conceive, and postpartum. I am well equipped to help clients choose the best method for their lifestyle, even if it is not learning BOM or sympto-thermal with me. I teach local couples out of my house, but majority of my clients are virtual.
My first career was as a researcher, and I bring those skills into my fertility awareness instruction. Because of my background, I am able to break down fertility research in a way that is approachable to my clients. I am always trying to learn more about the menstrual cycle and how general health effects it. I am especially interested in how nutritional changes can improve menstrual health.
